Overview
Our client is an international contractor delivering major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across Africa and globally. As part of their ongoing project delivery, they are seeking a Contract Administrator to support the contractual and commercial management of a large-scale water infrastructure project based in Burundi.
This role will play a key part in supporting contract administration activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, supporting claims and variation management, and assisting project teams in managing contractual risks.
The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic international environment, contributing to the successful delivery of a complex infrastructure project with significant technical and contractual scope.
Job Description
The Contract Administrator will support the Contract Management and Project Teams in the administration and execution of the construction contract, ensuring proper documentation, contractual compliance, and effective management of contractual processes.
The role will involve reviewing contractual correspondence, assisting with variations and claims processes, supporting contract documentation management, and helping ensure alignment with contract conditions and project requirements.
This position will work closely with site teams, commercial teams, and project management to support effective contract administration and risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the administration of the construction contract in accordance with contractual requirements
- Review and manage contractual correspondence, notices, and formal communications
- Assist in the preparation and administration of variation orders and change management processes
- Support the preparation and review of contractual claims, including extensions of time and additional cost claims
- Maintain accurate and organised contract documentation and records
- Assist in ensuring compliance with contract terms, procedures, and reporting requirements
- Support project teams in identifying and managing contractual risks and obligations
- Monitor contractual milestones, deliverables, and key contractual timelines
- Collaborate with project, commercial, and technical teams to support contractual processes
- Assist in managing subcontractor contractual documentation and administration
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution activities where required
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 3–8 years of experience in contract administration within the construction or infrastructure sector
- Experience working on infrastructure projects, preferably water or civil engineering projects
- Strong familiarity with FIDIC Red Book contract conditions is essential
- Experience working in international project environments is highly desirable
- Strong organisational and documentation management skills
- Good understanding of contract administration processes and contractual risk management
- Fluent French is essential (spoken and written)
- Professional working proficiency in English is highly desirable
- Ability and willingness to work on site in Burundi
