Our client is an independent, highly respected global construction advisory and expert services firm with a strong presence across Europe, the Middle East, North America, Asia, and Australia. The business provides specialist services across dispute resolution, expert witness testimony, forensic delay and quantum analysis, and strategic project advisory on major international construction and infrastructure programmes.
As part of its continued growth across the Asia-Pacific region, the firm is seeking to appoint a Managing Director (Quantum) to lead and expand its expert quantum services offering in Sydney, Australia. This is a senior leadership appointment combining technical expert capability, strategic growth, and market leadership. The successful candidate will play a central role in building the firm’s quantum practice across Australia and the wider APAC market, developing client relationships with law firms and contractors, and leading the delivery of high-value dispute mandates.
The role offers the opportunity to shape and scale a specialist quantum advisory platform within a globally recognised consultancy operating at the highest levels of the international disputes and expert witness market.
Job Description:
The Managing Director will lead the Quantum practice in Australia, overseeing the delivery of expert quantum analysis while driving strategic growth and market positioning across the region.
Working closely with delay experts, technical specialists, and the wider international disputes team, the Managing Director will be responsible for developing the firm’s quantum offering across arbitration, litigation, adjudication, and complex dispute proceedings.
The position requires a highly credible quantum expert and commercial leader who can combine technical excellence with business development and practice leadership.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow the firm’s Quantum Expert practice across Australia and the wider APAC region
- Act as Expert Witness in arbitration, litigation, and other dispute proceedings where required
- Oversee preparation of quantum expert reports, damages assessments, and financial evaluations relating to complex construction disputes
- Develop and maintain relationships with law firms, contractors, developers, and project stakeholders
- Drive strategic business development and revenue growth within the regional disputes market
- Collaborate closely with forensic delay, technical expert, and advisory teams on complex dispute mandates
- Provide technical oversight and mentoring to consultants and quantum specialists within the team
- Support early-stage dispute advisory, claim quantification, and strategic dispute support
- Enhance the firm’s market profile through thought leadership, industry engagement, and conference participation
- Contribute to overall practice strategy, revenue growth, and expansion of the firm’s expert capabilities in APAC
Profile Required:
- 15+ years’ experience in construction quantum analysis, commercial management, or dispute advisory
- Strong experience preparing quantum assessments and expert reports for construction disputes
- Prior expert witness experience is highly desirable, although experienced testifying experts are particularly sought
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, damages quantification, and dispute resolution processes
- Experience operating at Director or Partner level within a disputes consultancy, expert firm, or contractor advisory function
- Proven ability to generate work and develop relationships with law firms and dispute stakeholders
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially minded with the ability to combine expert delivery with practice growth
- Professional qualifications such as MRICS, FCIArb, MCIArb, CICES or equivalent highly advantageous
